A LASTING IMPRESSION

I thought of the words I’d say

The kind of speech I’d read

Perhaps a big book

And a lot of published articles

I’d gain popularity  and money

And become a public speaker

Moving from one show to the other

Organizing and speaking at events

A lasting impression, I thought

That’s how I’ll form a lasting impression

Until I realized that people were hardly listening

They wanted not to know what I knew

Or how intelligent I was

But that I cared, and in that case

All that mattered were my actions:

The example I was setting
