At around midnight and just a few blocks from Alexia’s building, Luke and his bodyguard, a short plump man of Asian descent seemingly in his late forties, called Jing, cautiously jumped across the short walls of a public school in the dangerous gang ridden neighbourhood and landed into its compound. The two men had been walking on foot for what seemed like an eternity while carefully trying to stay out of sight.

They looked around nervously at the silhouettes of the numerous congested school buildings in the darkness as they weighed their options. The whole school was in complete darkness and it seemed electricity had been cut in the surrounding areas as well. It was a dark moonless night and with the whole treacherous neighbourhood in complete darkness, moving around on foot had been a dangerous adventure to say the least.

Luke was wearing a pair of trainers, denim pants and a jacket under his T-shirt to protect himself from the cold. Covering his thick, well trimmed natural hair was a baseball cap which partially concealed his face and on his back he carried a go-bag which basically contained his laptop and a few personal supplies. On one hand he had a sleeping bag and on the other a mobile phone.

As they crossed the central compound of the school they were met by an eager school guard carrying what seemed like a bunch of keys in his hand. The guard silently motioned for the two men to follow him and they obeyed while eagerly looking around to ensure there was no one else was in sight! The guard led them into one of the buildings and through a long corridor towards a door at the end of the corridor.

He pointed to the door and whispered. “Mr. Luke Titus, that door is the main entrance to the library. That’s where you’re going to hide….click here to continue reading this novel
